Keyword your Blog for Traffic
There is a lot of ways that blogs get traffic. In general, they tend to get a following so that people will return to read new entries because they link the writer and their writing. Often bloggers inadvertently use the community to increase traffic to their blog because they link to other blogs and write about them which creates backlinks for the blogs. This makes their reputability in the search engines better.
So what does that mean? How will reputability in the search engines drive traffic to blogs? Well, once you have established some sort of reputation, your blog or website can then be displayed when someone searches for something that your website or blog talks about. This seems simple enough, but to the blogger, if you want people to actually get to your blog, you need to write according to what people are searching for.
There are many different tools out there for figuring out what people are searching for, ranging from google trends to wordtracker and many, many others. Use tools such as these to find keywords. Then you need to plug them into your blog post title and into the text several times so that the search engines know that your article is about that keyword. Then you will begin to see search engine traffic coming to your blog.
Obviously there is more to keywording than this. Here is a great resource that covers the topic of keywording extensively. Still simply plugging a few keywords into a good blog post on a reputable blog will certainly increase your search engine traffic. Some of the most successful blogs actually get their traffic from the search engines and not the blogging community.
