Freelance writing has been twisted with the invention of the internet to incorporate a much broader scheme of people than previously. The online freelance community does not even require education, although it’s helpful. There are so many freelance writing jobs online that it is difficult to tell what is legit and what is not. The following article will outline some of the freelance writing jobs that I have looked into or done personally and provide a preview of the profitability of the venture.
eHow.com is one of the best I have ever written for. They have very minimal quality guidelines, but the skilled writer has potential to make a lot of money here. This site will pay a portion of the ad revenue to the authors in exchange for content. The site is all DIY and How to type articles so anyone who knows anything about anything, which is everybody, can join. The benefit to this site is that it is residual income.
iFreelance.com and similar freelance sites are more typical to what more traditional freelance writers are used to with the exception that they use the internet to get the clientele. This is beneficial if you like this type of work, but there is no freedom in it and the majority of the jobs are for a flat fee with no residuals.
AssociatedContent.com is a site that will allow you to write about virtually anything. They pay their writers based on traffic to their articles. The down side is that they just don’t pay well enough even for good writers, although the writing community here is very advance. This is not to say that no one makes good money here, because volume can always pick up slack for the lack in pay. Pay on AC is residual, but they also have the option to submit for a flat fee if you think your writing is good enough.
eBooks are another way for freelance writers to make some money. This requires a bit more attention than simply writing though. This requires that you actually spend time promoting your own material. I have done this and I believe it to be profitable, although it may only be because of my internet experience. At this time, I have one eBook which is designed to help those without internet experience to become experienced internet writers by incorporating web methodology into their writing techniques. Apparently there is more skill required than writing. You have to know how to write to the search engine audience, not the coffee shop audience. Here is the book site for anyone interested.
