I make money online through several different methods. I have tried quite a few things from blogging to general web content publishing and a number of other things including stock photography. By far the most beneficial things I have done are writing articles for a website called eHow and writing for my own website, eInquisitive.
Writing for eHow has been great. I have really got a knack for writing articles that can actually make money. The way the site works is you write an article and then based on how much ad revenue the page makes, they share a portion of that revenue with you. The beautiful thing about it is that they are on of the top 50 sites in the world, getting over 23 million visitors a day so there is a ton of revenue making potential. I have found I can make more money here than writing for a number of other popular services or through blogging.
Writing for my own site, eInquisitive, comes with major benefits. First it is basically a blog that is formatted into a design more like a website so I can get the best of both worlds. I have followers that enjoy reading my updates as they come in and getting an idea of who I am and what I am about…followers you could say, just like any other blog. At the same time, there are others who stumble upon my blog either through social bookmarking sites or search engines because I posted on a particular topic that they were looking for. This has been a very beneficial means for generating traffic. I monetize this blog with a typical adsense layout like you see on a lot of popular sites.
Recently I have taken to the world of eBook publishing. I compiled all of my knowledge of ad targeting and search engine optimization into a easy to read book which gives step by step, practical guidence for generating more revenue on blog posts or articles written for other sites. I have found this to be particularly helpful both on my personal blog as well as on eHow. More information on my eBook can be found here.
My best tip for any writer, especially for blogs is to have fun. The key is content generation so if you do anything that makes content generation become mundane or meaningless you will surely not succeed.
